The festival of Holi is ubiquitously associated with colours and fun. However, not everyone gets comfortable with the clamorous celebration of splashing colours and partying hard. This colourful event is among the most celebrated festivals in Uttar Pradesh. However, if you want to beat the Holi crowd and looking for some relaxing yet eventful escape, then Dudhwa National Park is just the place for you. Located in the Lakhimpur Kheri district of Uttar Pradesh, the national park is the result of the philanthropic contributions of Kunwar ‘Billy’ Arjan Singh. A hunter turned conservationist is the protagonist of the historical backdrop of Dudhwa National Park who reintroduced leopards and tigers in the forest of Dudhwa.

Reaching Dudhwa National Park

The national park is easily accessible by road from neighbouring cities like Kanpur, Lucknow, Sitapur, Shahjahanpur, Bareilly, Baraich and a few more.

By train, arriving at Dudhwa Railway Station will be the nearest option to reach the national park. Other nearby railway stations are Palia and Mailani. These stations are well connected by train to significant cities in Uttar Pradesh.

By flight, you have to land at Chaudhury Charan Singh International Airport, Lucknow. Either hire a cab from the airport to Dudhwa National Park or board a train to reach Mailani Railway Station and proceed to Dudhwa National Park.

Spend Your ‘Holi’Day at Dudhwa National Park

If Holi becomes the extended day of your weekend, then a 2-night and 3-day trip at Dudhwa is a perfect Holi plan for you. Reaching Dudhwa, the foremost thing to do is to check into a resort near the national park. Since you are looking for some relaxing time away from the hustles of daily routine, you are free to spend the day of arrival entirely at leisure at the resort. Enjoy freshly cooked food while relaxing in your room.

On the second day, rise early to go for an early morning safari. The jeep safari slot starts from 7:00 am in the morning and lasts till 10:00 am. Engage yourself in the wilderness of the Dudhwa forest where you can easily spot swamp deer, barking deer, elephants, hog deer, etc. If luck favours, then you can also get glimpses of tigers or leopards. Returning from the safari, have your breakfast served hot at the resort and spend some leisurely hours. Post lunch, go for another round of safari in the evening. The evening safari operates from 3:00 pm till sunset. The time slots of Dudhwa Jeep Safari vary a little bit according to the season. Return to the resort after the evening safari and retreat to rest to mark the end of the day.

The day three is your last day in the serene landscape at Dudhwa. If the third day is the day of Holi, you can celebrate it lightly with your companions, whether you are visiting Dudhwa with your family or friends. After relishing the breakfast it's time for you to pack up your bags and depart. Complete the checkout formalities and embark on your return journey through your preferred mode of transport.
